Perinatal Training and Resource Centre ( PTRC) Perinatal Training and
Resource Centre (PTRC) is a project of MIRA. The PTRC provides training and relevant
resource materials. It provides training packages on perinatal health and
other relative subjects to improve the maternal and infant health of Objective ·
To establish a well equipped resource centre on perinatal health in · To provide necessary information and materials on perinatal health to those person who come to the resource centre · To develop and conduct various levels of training packages for various organizations · To advocate with the government and other organizations on improving perinatal health i) Training Centre This project was initiated to strengthen districts and national training for government and non-government health workers on Essential Newborn Care and uses of appropriate technology to save mothers and newborns in remote villages. PTRC runs three-day training packages and has a training manual for various levels of health workers. Training manuals for different cadres of health staff ·
Essential Newborn Care for Hospital Level Staff · Essential Newborn Care for Health Assistants and Staff Nurses · Essential Newborn Care for Auxillary Health Workers, Auxillary Nurse Midwives · Essential Newborn Care for Village Health Workers and Maternal and Child Health Workers · Essential Newborn Care for Traditional birth attendants and Female Community Health Volunteers · Perinatal death auditing at various health institutions The Objectives of the Training are: · To enhance the technical knowledge and skill of the health personnel on Essential Newborn Care · To know the existing situation of maternal and newborn health · To upgrade participatory training and communication skills · To enhance the experience on perinatal health management · To establish good rapport between District Health Office/District Public Health Office, PTRC and peripheral health institution. ·

Resource Centre The PTRC is a well equipped Resource Centre specially focusing on child and maternal health. There are various types of electronic and non electronic resource materials such as training manuals, various articles, books, journals, CD-ROMs and VCR Cassettes for those who are interested in maternal and child health. This centre also helps to provide information for those who are interested to do research on child health and mother health .This centre is open for the public from 2:00 PM to 4.00 PM and closed on Saturday and public holidays. There is also photocopy facilities in the resource centre with reasonable charge. |
